This picture of a keyboard I took during class. It is created through leading lines and negative space. Although the rule of thirds was not technically followed, I believe there is an interest point everywhere in the photo. To take this, the ISO was set to 400 and the white balance was set to fluorescent. The depth of field was relatively shallow and the shutter speed was fast. This was taken from a side angle, with the camera almost level with the keyboard. There is a pattern in the keys, and also the negative space created by the keys. The keys are the same size and are being repeated down the photo as they get smaller and smaller. The dark keys contrast greatly from the light base of the keyboard and I converted it to black and white to make it more easily seen. The negative space leads you through the picture.
This photo was taken in the performing arts center with a light that I created a circle with. The point of the circle is located in the upper third of the picture, but it still is right in the middle. With an exciting picture like this, however, I don't see how the rule of thirds would make much of a difference. The ISO was 200 because we wanted the room to be dark and have the light as the focal point of the picture. The shutter speed was set to about 10s to be able to capture the movement of the light. This picture remained in color because the vivid red light is the subject of the photo, and if it were in black and white it would not be as exciting. The lines in the circle lead you around it and your eye stays there, holding the viewers attention.
This picture was taken in a white box to get rid of any possible distractions. It is composed of three figures with the focal point on the middle one. While all figures are in the middle of the photo, they are on separate thirds of the shot. The ISO was around 800 because the area was very bright, and the white balance was fluorescent. When viewing the photo, your eyes move from on figure to the next. The depth of field was set to focus on the middle but it was still shallow because all figures are close together. The angle in this is much like the angle in the keyboard picture. This photo represents the patriarchal society we live in today, with the focal point on the man rather than the two women who are also right next to him.
